Description

Jean Pierre Larochette says, “Can we feel solidarity, “a sense of unity, agreement, or close connection” with an object, namely tapestry? I think yes, but if you don’t agree, replace the word solidarity with the word love. Many people tell me they love tapestry. Solidarity entails appreciation and a feeling of kinship and enduring loyalty as well.

In this our upside-down world, in its many reincarnations, tapestry is still here. It is, in itself, a document of transcendental creativity expressed in the most transparent way, with the simplest materials. The rich, text-tured image of the tapestry weave has no parallel. Its visual impact has the power to transmit the profound emotion of a poem. Imagine, in our robotically-charged age, an object entirely constructed by hand! And often just dictated by the heart.

I have been at it for over seventy years and I am still mesmerized by the magic of a process that gifted me self-employment, cherished relations and fundamental teachings.”
