Description
Choose any five Tuesdays in the term, Jan 6 – Mar 10, 2026. Choose Open Studio if you already have tapestry skills. The fee includes a 12″x18″ copper pipe loom, valued at $50.
Instructor Terry Olson encourages beginners who want to learn tapestry and can weave on Tuesdays, to sign up for this class. Techniques you might learn include warping, weaving shapes, curves, lines, pick and pick, meet and separate, what makes a good tapestry design, color choices. Students join the Open Studio weavers, learning along with them. Materials purchased from the school shoppe. (If you already have basic tapestry skills, sign up for Open Studio and join me on Tuesdays.) No School Thanksgiving week.
About the Instructor:
Terry Olson has been teaching tapestry and its variations for over 25 years at Damascus Fiber Arts School and at workshops. In 2020, Terry received the American Tapestry Alliance Award for Excellence for her tapestry, “Wilsonville Bridge over the Willamette River, 1960”. Terry loves to weave and is constantly trying new things to add to her “tapestry toolbox”. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with her students.
Terry served on the American Tapestry Alliance Board of Directors (Education) for eight years, retiring in 2022. She is a founding member of the Willamette Tapestry Artists. Her work has been in juried and open exhibits, as well as several publications by the American Tapestry Alliance.
