A quote from Walcott “I read; I travel; I become” describes perfectly Amanda Gizzi’s creative process. Gathering ideas, listening to stories, learning about culture and taking visual snapshots all come together to develop into her own artistic identity. In this talk Amanda will look back at early inspiration to developing recent imagery and share the trajectory of designs from concept to composition to completion. Amanda’s tapestries are bright, full of energy and humor, witty observations of life, often telling a story. About the Speaker: Amanda Gizzi graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a first-class degree and has taught and lectured in Art & Design Education, Research and Development at the University of Edinburgh. Amanda has practiced and exhibited widely at national and international levels, most recently at Memento Perth Scotland, Artapestry 6 in Sweden, Latvia, Denmark, and Romania and has had a solo show at the Scottish Arts Club. Gizzi’s work is featured in many tapestry publications and reviews. She is a member of Visual Arts Scotland and STAR* – Scottish Tapestry Artists Regrouped, of which she is a founding member.
