Description
Description: Anna Zell is the instructor for this one-day workshop. Students will learn how to create beautiful prints with leaves and flowers on their tops. This workshop will cover the basics of botanical contact printing. Students will learn the importance of the iron and tannin interaction and how to add natural dye color to fabric using a carrier cloth. Anna will demonstrate various folding and bundling methods and discuss “ghost prints” and how to avoid them. Students will print two tops/shirts; they can be any length, sleeve or sleeveless. Fabrics must be a minimum of 70% cotton, linen, silk or wool. Students will print one shirt without a mordant and another with an alum mordant. Anna will bring an abundance of leaves that she knows print well. Students can bring leaves to test, but the workshop will focus on the “tried and true”. This will be a fun, fast-paced class and students will go home with their lovely shirts to wear with joy! There is a materials fee of $10 paid directly to the instructor.
Students must be able to stand for a long time, have some upper body strength and the use of both hands. Maximum class size is 10.Â
