Sandy Kennard

When asked to tell the story of how she got started in tapestry, Sandy Kennard has said “It was purely a whim. I thought I’d take a class for a couple of weeks and go on my way.” Four years later, Sandy’s whim has transformed into a full-fledged passion for this fascinating visual and tactile medium.

Sandy Kennard began her tapestry studies at the Damascus Fiber Arts School. These studies are a continuation of lifetime work in the arts, including a Masters’ Degree in Music and working as a professional graphic designer.

Whether in music or the visual arts, she believes art should evoke a visceral response. This can easily be characterized in her use of color, composition and subject matter.

This gallery is very small because she chose to begin her tapestry journey using Perle cotton and other small diameter weft threads.
