Audrey Moore was the owner, heart and soul of the Damascus Fiber Arts School. Audrey taught Tapestry on the Navajo Loom for over 50 years in this building. At home in the mountains outside of Sandy, Oregon, Audrey wove her bright and colorful tapestries on a large Navajo style loom. Her daylight basement studio has a wall of colorful wool yarn, a place to dye, lots of light and a wood stove for chilly nights.
Audrey Moore’s tapestries nearly always have something to do with creating a textile within a textile. Her earlier works were large tapestries with rolled fabric and ribbons, geometric elements, shadows and dimension.
For 15 years or more, Audrey Moore wove a series of lively and colorful ladies dresses. This series, The Ladies, has been exhibited in various galleries and shows across the northwest, including the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland and the Latimer Textile Museum in Tillamook, Oregon.
